After the launch of The Urban Electric Co.’s new website in 2017, it was finally time to open the purchasing of our products to the public with e-commerce. The goal was to enable homeowners and trade accounts with the necessary online tools to customize and design their very own light fixture and place orders without needing a sales associate. Other tools included creating quotes, managing orders & account information, establishing teams for B2B accounts, tracking, uploading & approving CAD designs for custom orders, favoriting products, account notifications, minicart, and checkout.
I spearheaded the UX/UI designs for this new phase of our website working alongside the Creative Director to create an experience from scratch. The concept of clean lines with minimal/flat design made the integration of e-commerce consistent with the brand and existing website. Hundreds of pages were created for each user experience that included breakpoints for large desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile. The wireframes were then uploaded into Invision to test the UX and map out various processes. I then passed over my designs and worked extensively with a team of developers to create any assets needed and QC pages as they got made. Our teams collaborated over the next 4 years (and during covid) with a successful launch of our first ever e-commerce platform early 2022.
